Gresham 5

Hailey Hoffman and Karisa Nietzer each tallied two hits as Gresham lost in five innings on the road Thursday.

Kristen Bowman and Nietzer combined to allow 15 walks and six hits for the Wildcats (11-6, 11-6 Central Wisconsin Conference-10).

Bowman added one hit for Gresham.


Shawano 7

Shawano scored two runs in each the first, third and seventh innings in Thursday’s road victory.

Cole Nelson picked up the victory on the mound, giving up eight hits, three runs and three walks over 6 1/3 innings for the Hawks (6-15, 4-13 Bay Conference).

Tigerton 6

Port Edwards 0

Conner Harris struck out 11 batters and gave up four hits in a home victory Thursday.

Four players each had two hits to lead the Tigers (9-9, 8-9 Central Wisconsin Conference-10).


West De Pere 9

Shawano 0

Senior goalkeeper Carlie Hinnefeld stopped 22 shots in Thursday’s road loss.

The Hawks (7-7-0, 4-5-0 Bay Conference) were unable to manage a goal on the offensive end.


Bears finish 4th in CWC

Carter Siolka and Austin Acker shot in the 80s as Bonduel secured a fourth-place finish in the Central Wisconsin Conference at the final meet of the regular season Thursday.

The Bears (400) placed fourth in the final meet, holding off Manawa by 23 strokes and Wittenberg-Birnamwood by 38 in the final conference standings.

Aaron Schaal’s round of 105 and Tyler Thunder’s 119 rounded out the scoring for the Bears at The Creeks at Ivy Acres.

Pacelli won the meet with a 347. Manawa’s Ryan Schuelke was the medalist with his 3-over 75.

Gresham/Menominee Indian (518) was led by Josh Hoffman’s 120.


Leiser, Braun lead at Throwers Classic

Shawano’s Samantha Leiser (29 feet, 5 inches) placed sixth in the shot put, and Gryphon Braun (122-9) took sixth in the discus at Thursday’s Coach Heinz Throwers Classic.

Shawano freshman Elizabeth Dillenburg and Leiser each had top-10 finishes in the discus as well. Shawano’s Hannah Wendorff had the seventh-best mark in the shot put at 29-4.

Menominee Indian’s Amado Bautista took seventh in the shot put (38-1).

Pulaski’s Kevin Ruechel won the shot put with a throw of 55-3 and the discus with a toss of 155-9.


Ashland 6

Shawano 1

Harrison Sturycz was the only Shawano player to win in the first dual at the Rhinelander triangular on Thursday.

Sturycz picked up a straight-set victory, 6-2, 7-6 (3), for the Hawks, who ended the season 6-6 in dual meets.

Shawano 4

Newman Catholic 3

Shawn Klemens and Harrison Sturycz won at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions in straight sets as Shawano won its second dual at Thursday’s Rhinelander triangular.

Sturycz did not allow his opponent to win a game.

In almost the same dominating fashion, Chris Black and Levi Johnson at No. 2 doubles and Rhain Rodenbeck and Wyatt Theis at No. 3 doubles each won in straight sets.
