Letter: Superintendent: Referendum investment in Bonduel community

To the editor:

The vote is here for the School District of Bonduel referendum. It’s been a long journey, and I want to say thank you to those parents and community members who have attended referendum and board meetings, called or emailed with questions, read through our mailings, and took the time to visit with me when I knocked on your door.

Our goal from day one has been to be transparent and candid through this process.

Many conversations took place throughout this past year about the countless great programs we offer to our students and community and the purpose of the additional money we are seeking. Our availability and messaging did not just begin a few days ago. We sought input at meetings, through surveys and through individual conversations. At times these difficult discussions included program and staff reductions, restructuring of schools and the board approving a referendum resolution. This was all done with the sole purpose of advocating for what our students need to be successful in the classroom, in the community and in your home while preparing each student to achieve their goals.

I encourage you to vote on Aug. 1 and to stay engaged in our schools. Please take the time to attend a board meeting, visit our schools during the day to see your tax dollars at work, watch a game or concert, or talk to a board member or myself. I believe that is the best way for you to learn about how great your school is and why the referendum is an investment in your community.

Patrick Rau,

Superintendent,

School District of Bonduel
