Doris E. Johnson

Doris E. Johnson, 81, of Tigerton, entered her heavenly home on Dec. 1, 2017, at Homme Home of Wittenberg. She was born on Dec. 20, 1935, to Edwin and Adele Matson in Birnamwood.

Doris attended local schools. She married Edward “Hardrock” Johnson on May 16, 1953, in Tigerton. They raised their family and lived most of their lives in the town of Germania, Shawano County. They operated Hardrock’s Village Cafe and service station in Tigerton in the 1970s, as well as other ventures.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Rebecca Schonfelder; siblings, Eugene Matson, Kenneth Matson, Vernon Matson, Ardis Matson, Erling Matson, Janet Locke, Marvin Matson, Milton Matson, twin brother Donald Matson and two sisters in infancy, Edith and Evelyn.

She is survived by a sister, Joyce (Ronnie) Christjohn; children, Sandra (Christopher) Ramsey, Daniel (Pauline) Johnson, Thomas (Rita) Johnson, JoAnn (Danny) Stanford and Rachel (Ronald) Steebs; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sally (Bruce) Matson-Herrmann, Sharon Dedolph and Darlene Matson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed by all.

Doris was a gentle and selfless soul who dedicated her life to caring for others. She welcomed people from all walks of life to her home, treating them with graciousness and hospitality. Her warmth and kindness were the outflow of the deep and enduring love she had for Jesus Christ. Doris also enjoyed nature, reading and old-time music.

The family would like to thank Homme Home of Wittenberg for their care of Doris in her final years.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at the chapel at Homme Home of Wittenberg. Interment of cremains will be at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery, town of Norrie, Marathon County.

Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting family at this time.
