Taste of Shawano raises $11,000 for Junior Achievement

The Wolf River District’s 11th annual Taste of Shawano for Junior Achievement is being called a success by the organization, as the fundraiser netted nearly $11,000 for Junior Achievement.

Ten local businesses sponsored the event, held March 26 at Shawano Community High School with Scott Parson as the master of ceremonies. Isabella Haen, Wisconsin’s Fairest of the Fair, attended and posed for photos with many patrons. Additionally, more than 45 volunteers and Junior Achievement board members helped support the event.

Food samples were provided by 24 local restaurants and vendors, while entertainment came from the Shawano Community Middle School Orchestra, Ignite Dance and Fitness and Shuffles Studio of Dance. There were raffles for prizes and a 50/50 raffle; Brothers’ Pub was named Best of Show.

Junior Achievement’s District Board of Directors and the Taste of Shawano committee acknowledged several Wolf River District businesses, including Reinhart FoodService, Menominee Casino Resort, CoVantage Credit Union, Terryoke’s Mountain Top Entertainment, Shawano School District, Johnson School Bus, Martin Jewellers, Cooperative Resources International, Shawano Printing Company Inc. and Jim Leuenberger Photography.

The following food vendors participated: Angie’s Main Café/Daily Grind, Beans and Books Coffeehouse, Brother’s Pub, Charlie’s County Market, Dupont Cheese, El Tequila Mexican Restaurant, Farm Inn’ On Main Restaurant/The Gathering, Glas Coffeehouse, JDOGG’s, Kwik Trip in Shawano and Bonduel, Luigi’s Pizza and Pasta, Menominee Casino Resort, Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats, Perkins Restaurant and Bakery, Pies by Patti, Red Rooster Café/Treasures and Treats, Reinhart FoodService, Seasons Restaurant and Lounge, The Corral Roadhouse and Saloon, Walmart, War Bonnet Bar and Grill, and Witt’s Sausage.
