Richard A. Danbury

Richard A. “Dan” Danbury, 84, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018, in Green Bay.

Richard was born Dec. 6, 1933, in Long Acre, West Virginia, son of the late Richard O. and Evelyn (England) Danbury. He entered the United States Air Force on Dec. 18, 1950, and was stationed in Germany for many years. He served in electronics. On Feb. 13, 1961, Richard was united in marriage to the former Eleanor “Dolly” Gorski in Chicago, Illinois. She preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 1996.

Richard was honorably discharged from the Air Force on July 2, 1963. His career included electronics in the Air Force, an electrical inspector for R.A. Warwick and Son, and as an inspector at a nuclear power plant. He was an active member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Dan retired from the Bechtel Corp. in December 1984. He was of the Catholic faith. He was an active member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his daughters, Debi Danbury, of Green Bay, Donna (Doug) Cook, of Shawano, and Dori (John) West, of South Lyon, Michigan; his grandchildren, Eric Leisgang, Lauren (Jason) Heitz, Matthew (Ashley) Leisgang, Courtney (Jeremy) Slewinski, Zach (Chelsea) Cook, Alex Cook, Victoria Langenstein, Jaclyn Langenstein and Kristyn Langenstein; his great-grandchildren, Iva, Isabella, August and Autumn Heitz, Owen Leisgang and Emerson Slewinski. He is further survived by two sisters, Shirley Hesson, of New Haven, West Virginia, and Margaret Stone, of Nashville, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.

Private family funeral services will take place at Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano. Deacon James Lonick will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by Shawano AmVets Post 10.
