Shawano places fourth at conference

The Shawano boys swimming team earned 218 points to place fourth at the Great Northern Conference Championship Meet on Friday at Medford High School.

The Hawks’ 200-yard medley relay started the evening off strong, placing second with a time of 1 minute, 52.16 seconds. Collin Buerman, Karson Rades, Camden Kroll and Josh Bergmann formed the team.

Shawano had its second 200 medley relay team come in fourth with a mark of 2:07.3. Michael Dickmann, Carson Cummings, Wylee Springborn and Jack Reed formed that quartet.

Peter Fuller turned in Shawano’s top individual performance, claiming second place in the 500 freestyle (5:31.84). He finished sixth in the 200 freestyle (2:03.84).

Fuller also was part of the third-place 200 freestyle relay (1:40.27) and 400 freestyle relay (3:46.81) teams. Buerman, Kroll and Springborn filled out the 200 freestyle team, while Kroll, Buerman and Bergmann joined Fuller in the 400 freestyle.

Bergmann also finished fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:06.78) and sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:05.16). Buerman came in fifth in the 100 freestyle (56.02), while Rades was fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.94).

Springborn took fifth in the 50 freestyle (25.19), while Kroll placed seventh in the 200 IM (2:32.52).
