John R. Shest

John R. Shest, 21, of Bonduel, was born in Novosibirsk, Russia, on Dec. 24, 1997. He was adopted and came to live with his new parents in December 1998. He was baptized on Feb. 14, 1999, at Peace Lutheran Church in Split Rock. John was confirmed on Oct. 30, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Town of Morris. His confirmation verse was John 3:16. John attended Tigerton schools from preschool through ninth grade. He graduated from Bonduel High School, where he was involved in cross-country and played the trumpet in the school band. He was selected to be in Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music and traveled to Europe during the summer of 2014. He received a degree in welding from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College-Green Bay in 2017. John loved the outdoors and spent most of his time running, biking and jumping on his trampoline. He suffered severe social anxiety and spent much of his time by himself. Those who knew him best appreciated his quick wit. He was interested in vintage rifles and spent countless hours restoring these rifles and resizing and reloading shells. He spent time at the range and was an excellent shot.

John is survived by his parents, Robert and Joyce Shest; his sister, Elena; and grandmother, Doris M. Buchholz, all of Bonduel.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John F. and Olga Shest and Raymond Buchholz.

A funeral service for John will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and again on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
