The Bonduel High School softball team posted a 1-2 record in the Spring Fling Tournament at the Superior Dome in Marquette, Michigan on Saturday.

The Bears opened with a game against Marquette (Mich.), winning by a 7-4 final.

McKenzie Wollenberg reached base three times and drove in a run for Bonduel. Taylor Luepke and MacKenzie Moore each added two-RBI doubles. Claire Gehm was the winning pitcher, striking out three batters along the way.

Bonduel was then defeated by Gladstone (Mich.), 23-1. Luepke took the loss in the circle for the Bears.

The Bears wrapped up play with a tight 3-2 loss to Noway (Mich.). A pair of errors in the third inning and a mental mistake in the sixth led to all three of Norway’s runs.

Gehm took the tough loss, allowing just four hits while striking out five batters and walking none. Grace Tibutis drove in a run for Bonduel.

“Very pleased to see our defense improve and to get an opportunity for all players to get some playing time,” said Bonduel coach Chris Reinke. “Awesome experience to play in the Superior Dome.”
