Seminar will outline needs of dementia-friendly community

Is Shawano a dementia-friendly community?

On May 29, Friends of Hospice will consider that question with the help of Susan McFadden, Ph.D., professor emerita of psychology, UW-Oshkosh. The program will be held from 9:30 a.m.- 3 p.m., at Boarders Inn and Suites, W7393 River Bend Rd., Shawano.

McFadden will help participants learn how the Shawano area can become a community which offers a welcoming, inclusive environment for people experiencing cognitive changes as they grow older.

The seminar, which includes lunch and is presented at no charge, is designed for anyone whose life has ever been touched by dementia including patients and families, caregivers, health care providers, clergy, social services, law enforcement.
