William Kinziger

William Wayne “Ol’ Bill” Kinziger, 92, of Shawano, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 5, 2019, surrounded by his family. Bill was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Oconto, to the late Charles and Bertha (Derks) Kinziger. Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946, serving in North Africa and the Philippines. Bill was united in marriage to Bette Lemke in Milwaukee in 1947.

After the war, Bill worked as a professional photographer. Bill and Bette had five daughters, Penny, Patricia, Priscilla, Paula and Pamela. In recent years, Bill loved to play pool, collect cameras and was a member of the local AMVETS.

Bill is survived by his five daughters, Penny (John) Hicks, of Gilbert, Arizona, Patti (Richard) Hoffmann, of Manitowoc, Priscilla Kinziger, of Wisconsin Rapids, Paula (Jeff) Stillman, of Menomonee Falls, and Pamela (Simon) Monreal, of Waukesha; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; special friend Phyllis Wilson, of Shawano; his former wife, Bette Kinziger, of Milwaukee; one sister, Margaret Mary Kinziger Parks, of Scottsdale, Arizona; and three nieces, Pamela (Ted) Neff and Robin Neddermeyer, of Arizona, and Sandra (Brian) Little, of Portland, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Bertha; one brother, John Robert; and one nephew, Terry Reed Neddermeyer.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Military honors will be conducted by the Shawano AMVETS at the funeral home following the funeral service. Burial will be in Oconto Catholic Cemetery on Monday, May 13, 2019.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established in Bill’s name.

Bill’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Heartland Hospice Services. Their dedication and compassionate care will be remembered with great fondness.
