Softball: Tigerton’s Dewhurst preparing for all-star games

Senior to play in Dells June 18

Tigerton High School senior Raven Dewhurst was named to the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association All-Star Games.

Dewhurst is one of 13 players on the Division 4-5 White team and will play at 10:30 a.m. and noon Tuesday (June 18) at Woodside Sports Complex in Wisconsin Dells.

“It is a huge honor to be selected to play for the senior all-star game. It is one of the greatest feelings ever,” Dewhurst said. “I had a fairly successful softball season this year, and I really worked my butt off and gave it 110% during every game and practice. Hard work really does pay off.”

Dewhurst’s all-star experience will begin Monday (June 17) with a players’ meeting at Chula Vista, practice, pizza party, banquet at Chula Vista and the Tommy Bartlett Show ski-sky-stage show. The all-stars also receive passes to a water park.

“I am looking forward to meeting new players who are just as good as me, if not better, that I could even learn new things from,” Dewhurst said. “The day to finally play will be so much fun. I can’t wait to show other players, coaches and even parents what I can do. … I’m hoping to get some nice friendships out if it and learn some new things from the coaches.”

Dewhurst’s senior season landed her first-team honors in the Central Wisconsin Conference-North. She batted .326 and got on base at a .532 clip. Six of her 14 hits were doubles. Dewhurst finished with 10 runs batted in, 18 stolen bases and 14 runs scored.
