Meet Diane Wendorff

Diane Wendorff was born and raised in Michigan, moving to Shawano with her family in the late 1970s. She attended St. James Lutheran School and graduated from Shawano High School. She worked at McDonalds for 10 years.

A hundred miles

For the second year in a row, two former Marines plan an ambitious hike to help raise donations for troops serving overseas.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Known as the "Old Dogs that Care," Shannon Anker and Chad Hintz of Pulaski, both 38, will walk from Wausau to Green Bay next month to raise funds for military care packages.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->The walk, set to begin Sept. 15, will take the best friends 100 miles along the length of the Mountain Bay Trail, which runs through Shawano.

Shawano's Keynote School of Music has started a program, KiddyKeys, for toddlers and preschoolers.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->"We had a lot of parents come to us and ask for something for children that were not old enough for private lessons," said Gloria Gryse, Keynote School owner. "I looked at several national programs and really like this one.

Annual Lumberjack Days coming to Tigerton

<p>The village of Tigerton will host its 45th annual Lumberjack Days celebration this weekend at the Tigerton Park Shelter.</p><p>"This is a great community event and a way for businesses in town to thank the people for their patronage for the year," said Wally Breitenfeldt, chairmen of Lumberjack Days and president of the Tigerton Advancement Association. "It's kind of a general homecoming festival for Tigerton."</p><p>Activities will kick off at 1 p.m.

College senior wins Miles of Art poster contest

<p>The Shawano Country Tourism Council has announced the winners of the Miles of Art poster contest.</p><p>First place and $750 award went to Angela Leopold, a University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point senior majoring in graphic design.
