Bowler still perfect with win over Almond

BOWLER The Bowler baseball team got its CWS Conference season off to a great start beating Almond-Bancroft 8-4 Monday afternoon. The win keeps the Panthers perfect on the season.

Kurt Boldig hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Bowler an 8-4 lead and Aaron Matz did the rest on the mound for the win. Matz pitched seven innings striking out six and walking just two batters.

HUSTISFORD The Marion baseball team spilt a pair of games this past Saturday in the Hustisford Invite losing to Oregon 12-5 and beating Horicon 11-5.

Prom night, and then day

Bonduel High School was the part headquarters for the young and the young at heart this weekend with the high school junior prom on Saturday night and the Senior Prom, for those 55 and older, on Sunday afternoon. Marge and Ward Peterson were one of many area couples who took to the dance floor to the tunes of Concertina Gene at the Senior Prom.

Numerous races on area ballots Tuesday

Voters across the area will be going to the polls Tuesday to cat their ballots in not only the Presidential primary and for a new state Supreme Court justice, but also a number of contested local elections.

Many polling locations do not open until 9 a.m. and remain open until 8 p.m. Election officials suggest you check with the office from your local government to see what time the polls open in your area. The city of Shawano polls at the Community Center open at 8 a.m.

Poll find Gore, Bush deadlocked in state

DE PERE, Wis. (AP) Texas Gov. George W. Bush and Vice President Al Gore are statistically tied among Wisconsin voters in the presidential race, a poll released today says.

The poll by the St. Norbert College Survey Center and Wisconsin Public Radio finds strengthening support for Gore, who trailed Bush by 15 percentage points in the fall.

In the latest poll, Bush, the expected Republican nominee, is supported by 46 percent of those responding, as is Gore, the expected Democratic nominee.
