Roger M. Werbelow

Roger M. Werbelow, 74, of Clintonville, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 9, 2016, at the ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano with family at his side.

The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory of Clintonville is assisting his family.

August H. Zarling

August H. Zarling, 81, of Clintonville, passed away early Tuesday morning, Sept. 13, 2016, at Aster Retirement Community, Clintonville.

August Herman Zarling was born July 10, 1935, in the Township of Matteson, Waupaca County, to the late Gust and Nellie (Babino) Zarling. He attended grade school at Clover Nook through the eighth grade.

August started work on his Uncle Floyd and Aunt Alma Bodoh’s farm as a young man, learning the value of hard, honest work. He farmed until about 1965; that same year he was united in marriage to Joyce Ashauer on Sept. 25.

August started work at the FWD in Clintonville, where he labored in the paint shop until his retirement after 32 years. He was fond of polka and polka dancing his entire life, as well as hunting and fishing in his younger years. He was always around to help his family with various projects, and loved to spend time relaxing in his lawn chair in the midst of friends and family.

Gordon S. Pennycook

Gordon Stuart Pennycook, 86, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, in Appleton.

Gordie was born in Janesville on Nov. 8, 1929, the son of the late Stuart and Anna (Kersten) Pennycook. On April 22, 1950, Gordie was united in marriage to Audrey Ann Carroll. He worked at International Harvester for 33 years, retiring in 1986.

Gordie was a member of the Lions Club for 54 years. He received many awards, including Lion of the Year from Shawano Lake Lions in 1991, Mel Jones Award from Lions Club International Foundation in 1994, Lions President Appreciation Award from Shawano Lake Lions in 2001 and the Birch-Sturm Fellowship from Wisconsin Lions Foundation. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, going to the casino, and watching the Packers and Brewers.

George A. Schmidt Jr.

On Sept. 10, 2016, George Albert Schmidt Jr., 83, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of George Sr. and Leona Schmidt, of Gresham.

George (Bud) graduated from Gresham High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany, where he was promoted to corporal and was in charge of infantry. He and his brother, Dan, both served in Germany and were able to spend time together overseas.

Upon returning home, George moved to Milwaukee, where he worked for American Motors, serviced sewing machines and worked as a welder for S&M Manufacturing. He met the love of his life, Charlotte E. Harris, of Hurley. They were united in marriage on Sept. 12, 1959, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ironwood, Michigan.

Catlin E. Cox

Catlin E. “Cal” Cox, 81, of Shawano, passed away peacefully Friday morning, Sept. 9, 2016, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano, with his family by his side.

Cal was born May 7, 1935, in Shawano, a son of the late Norman and Fern (Halverson) Cox. He attended the Shawano schools, graduating from Shawano High School in 1953. Following school, Cal was employed at Dumffey Boat Company in Oshkosh as a boat builder. He later worked at Payne Lumber Company in Oshkosh.

On May 5, 1979, he was united in marriage to the former Betty Kroenke at the Shawano United Methodist Church. Following their wedding, the couple lived in Oshkosh until 1983 when they moved to Shawano. Cal was employed at Weber Plywood & Veneer in Shawano, and was also employed at The Shawano Leader for several years before retiring. Following retirement Cal spend most of his time working on his novel, “The New Beginning” which has yet to be published.

Frances R. Foreman

Frances R. “Mikki” Foreman, 86, of Bonduel, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, Sept. 5, 2016, following a lengthy illness.

Mikki was born on Nov. 30, 1929, in Ironwood, Michigan, a daughter of the late John and Fannie (Walli) Relich. She attended school in Ironwood, graduating from Luther L. Wright High School. Following school she moved to Milwaukee, where she met her future husband, James H. Foreman. The couple was united in marriage on May 14, 1949, in Shawano. In 1960, the couple moved to Bonduel, where Mikki was employed at the Bonduel Soil and Forage Laboratory for 27 years. James preceded her in death in May 2011.

Mikki was a member of the Bonduel United Methodist Church. To Mikki, family was everything. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was especially committed to her grandson, Josh. She enjoyed watching his baseball games and listening to his fishing tales. Mikki was kind, loving and generous.

Karen K. Lane

Karen K. Lane, 75, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at ThedaCare Medical Center-Appleton.

A funeral service for Karen K. Lane will be held on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church, town of Richmond. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9-11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers and plants, donations may be made in Karen’s name to St. Jakobi Lutheran Church.

William F. Muck

William F. “Bill” Muck, 85, Pulaski, died peacefully at his home Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, with his family at his side.

Born Jan. 28, 1931, to Frederick and Elda (Bartels) Muck, Bill graduated from Pulaski High School in 1948, and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture in 1954. On March 26, 1951, he married Patricia Marnocha. After graduation from college, Bill worked for Pet Milk Company as a dairy field man and lived in Footville.

Gladys A. Neja

Gladys Ann Neja, 81, of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at ThedaCare Hospital.

Gladys was born on March 9, 1935, the daughter of the late John and Amanda (Krueger) Neumann. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and coloring in adult coloring books.

Gladys is survived by her husband, Richard Neja, and brother, Joe Neumann.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings.

A private family service was held.
