Mary C. Tozer

Mary Christine Tozer, 61, of Bonduel, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015 in Appleton. Mary was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on May 14, 1954, the daughter of the late Charles and Shirley Bortner. She enjoyed going to the casino, especially playing bingo. Mary loved camping and traveling, eventually settling in the area to be with her children.

Mary is survived by her children, George (Peggy Melcher) Gift III and Christine High; four grandchildren, Jason, Heidi, and Miranda Gutshall, and Johnnie Carroll; two sisters, Pat and Kathy; and her significant other, Harvey Poling.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mike and Charles Bortner.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Joann C. Haar

Joann C. Haar entered Heaven and joined her husband, Tom, on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at age 80.

Loving and cherished mom of Michele (Eugene Miller) King and Tommy (Cher) Haar II. Beloved and appreciated grandma of Krystal, Kyle and Kelly. Precious GG of seven great-grandchildren. Devoted big sister of Peter (Kathy) Zimmerman, Judine (the late Gil) Varona and Patti (James) Smith. Awesome second mom of Jody (Carl) Wintheiser.

Joann will be loved and missed by many other relatives and friends, especially those on the Menominee Indian Reservation.

Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 W. Capitol Drive, Milwaukee (414-464-4640). Entombment was at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

John R. Gilson

John Robert Gilson, 92, of Cecil, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.

John was born in Shawano on Aug. 5, 1923, the son of the late Earl R. and Gerogianna (Ketter) Gilson. He was united in marriage to Mildred M. Kersten. She preceded John in death.

John served in the United States Army during World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge. John helped to start the first phone company in Shawano, built his own home, and was a cabinet maker and a jack of all trades. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil, a former member of the Shawano American Legion Post 117, Shawano VFW Post 2723 and the Knights of Columbus.

John was very proud of his Irish heritage. In his free time, he loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends. If you visited his home, he wouldn’t let you leave without eating.

Deborah J. Warrington

Deborah Jean “Good ‘Ole” Warrington, 60, of Neopit, started her journey to the Spirit World on Dec. 11, 2015. She was born on Nov. 19, 1955, to the late Kenneth and Lillian (Mackiorowski) Warrington in Chicago.

Deb was a good person at heart. She loved many things in life especially her children and grandchildren, family and friends, and loved framing them on the wall. Throughout life she was referred to as “Good ‘Ole Deb” because she liked to raise heck with everyone who passed her by. The younger generation called her “DebbaDo.”

Deb was a very kind-hearted person, always willing to help out whenever and wherever needed. She loved her nature walks and rides in the woods and most of all White City Hill, the hill she grew up on, lived and fulfilled many fond memories. She’ll always be remembered in more ways than one.

Rick L. Klose

Rick Lee Klose, 64, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 14, 2015, surrounded by his family.

Rick was born on March 10, 1951, to Amaryllis and Kenneth Klose. He was a member of and was married at St. James Lutheran Church to Annette Unger on Oct. 30, 1972. Together they had two children, Corey and Christina, and many loving dogs.

Rick enjoyed life on Shawano Lake and trips to the family cabin up north. He was a history buff and enjoyed fishing, boating, motorcycling, watching old movies, and being with friends and family.

John A. Gallagher III

John A. Gallagher III, 81, of Shawano, died on Dec. 13, 2015. His family surrounded him as he embarked on his next journey.

Born on Dec. 8, 1934, in Shawano, John was the son of the late John A. and Gretchen (Arent) Gallagher. He attended Notre Dame University before returning to Shawano to take over the family business, Gallagher Drug Store. He was the third generation to run the store and was known for his kindness, generosity and smile.

John met his wife, Peg Gardner, of Green Bay, on a blind date in 1960 at the Packers vs. Bears game. The Packers won, and so did he. They married a year later and started their family. He was a man of strong faith and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, where he served on various boards and committees.

James A. Shepard

James A. Shepard, 54, of Bowler, left on his journey on Monday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2015, at the Appleton Medical Center, following a sudden illness.

Jim was born on April 19, 1961, in Keshena, a son of Ira and Mary (Tomow) Shepard. He attended the Indian Community School in Milwaukee. Following high school he went to work in Milwaukee. For the past 12 years he was employed as the groundskeeper at Pine Hills Golf Course. He was an avid golfer and loved to shoot pool. He enjoyed participating in Native traditions through his singing, drumming and going to powwows. He loved spending time with and laughing with his family.

Joseph B. Brunke

Joseph Blaine Brunke, 49, of Shawano, passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, in Shawano.

Joseph was born in Milwaukee on Feb. 20, 1966, to the late Robert and Rose (Turney) Brunke.

Joe worked in the construction industry and enjoyed hunting in his free time.

He is survived by three children, Crystal, Blaine and Maya Brunke; his sister, Penny Brunke; his brother, Damon (Holly) Brunke; the mother of his children, Shelly Riesing; his stepfather Robert Goodwill; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Private family services will be held.

Alice D. Koeller

Alice Daisy Skalitzky Koeller, 93, of Shawano, died on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015. Born on April 18, 1922, in Oneida, she was the daughter of the late Elmer W. and Laura (Perry) Blish.

Alice lived in Shawano most of her life and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Stony Hill.

Alice is survived by her sons, Eugene F. (Eileen) Skalitzky and Richard P. (Debbie) Skalitzky, both of Shawano; daughter-in-law, Karen Skalitzky, of Pulaski; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, Hugo and Clarence Blish.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara; son, Dennis; great-granddaughter, Desirae; three brothers, Raymond, Henry and Donald; and two sisters, Sarah Gross and Helen Clark.

Anthony P. Wolf

Anthony Peter Wolf, 61, of Neopit, passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015. He was born on April 12, 1954, to the late Elizabeth Wolf Pierce, in Triton, Michigan.

Anthony served the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He was a certified plumber and worked for Menominee Tribal Enterprises for 15 years before retirement. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and the Menominee Veterans. He was an avid Packers fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and especially riding in the woods with his grandchildren.
