Williams and Olsen knock in pair of goals

The Gresham/Bowler varsity boys soccer team beat Wisconsin Valley Lutheran 5-1 Tuesday afternoon in Gresham.

Austin Olsen opened the scoring in the first half and added a goal in the second half. Tom Williams had two goals and an assist, while Christian Haffner scored once and also had an assist.

Goalie Walker Miller had nine saves.

The Wildcats' next game is 5 p.m. Friday at Northland Lutheran.

Local man gets to shake hand of boyhood hero

<p>Listening to Milwaukee Braves baseball games on the radio as a kid growing up in Iowa in the 1950s, Jim Leuenberger decided his favorite player was Hank Aaron.</p><p>Aaron did not disappoint Leuenberger. The Braves outfielder appeared on a record 25 All-Star squads, broke Babe Ruth's home run record and had one of the best, hall of fame careers in baseball history.</p><p>"He's a neat guy," said Leuenberger, who now lives in Shawano. "He's a solid guy.

Cats need to find the end zone

<p>The Bowler/Gresham Cats varsity football team (1-2) needs to get something going offensively.</p><p>Three games into the prep football season, the Cats only have one touchdown -- a third-quarter two-yard run by Sawn Bucholtz in the season opener 6-0 victory over Menominee Indian Aug. 19 in Bowler.</p><p>Since then, Bowler/Gresham has been shut out for nine straight quarters.
