Truckers finish second in own invite

CLINTONVILLE The Clintonville gymnastics team had a very successful day Saturday finishing second in their own invitational, with Waupun winning the meet with 116.65 points. The Truckers finished with 111.6 points.

Clintonville's Jessica Korth had a big day finishing fifth in the all-around and placing in the top five in three of the four events. Her total of 29.55 was good enough to put her in fifth place overall in the meet. Escanaba's Nina Schubert won the all-around competition with a 33.95 total on the day.

On the floor exercises Korth was the lone Trucker in the top five finishing in fourth place with a 7.8. Manitowoc's Pam Popp won the event with an 8.35.

In the very competitive vault competition Korth finished in fifth place scoring an 8.05. The top score was achieved by Waupun's Helene Pequin who scored an 8.35 to win the event.

Korth scored her highest individual finish of the day on the balance beam where she scored a 7.95 for a third place finish. Overall champion Schubert won the event with an 8.55.

The Truckers failed to have a top-five score on the uneven bars, while Schubert turned in a winning score of 9.2 on her way to the overall crown.

Clintonville will next compete at Oshkosh North today and will host their next match on Feb. 7 when the compete against Sheboygan at 6:30 p.m.
