7 Things to Check When Considering LMS For Your Business

Business & Entrepreneur

10 Apr

A leaning management system is an application to track, report, administer, and document educational courses.

LMS provides the much-needed support to your business for optimal training, knowledge sharing, and learning. It improves employee learning efficiency and indirectly contributes to superior ROI.

7 things to check when considering lms for your business shawano leader

While evaluating various Learning Management Systems for your organization, consider asking these questions at the outset.

1. Is it cloud-based?

A cloud-based LMS has several advantages for your enterprise.

  • You don’t have to invest in redundant hardware to store your content. Cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services host your data on their own devices which have a huge, very huge capacity.
  • Secondly, you don’t have to worry about security. Your cloud-provider will take care of all the threats and attacks coming from various directions. There’s no need to commit additional resources to secure your LMS data.
  • There is no need for a dedicated staff to administer your cloud-based LMS platform. That task can be easily taken care of by your cloud partner.
  • Lastly, your cloud-hosted LMS will be upgraded automatically by your partner, so you don’t have to worry about technical aspects.

2. Ease of Integration

Can you integrate your LMS with your existing structures easily? Can the latter work seamlessly with your payroll and HR systems, for instance?

Online learning management systems like Janison LMS provide critical knowledge and skills to employees. If you are investing substantial money into an LMS, make sure that you can track its effectiveness. Integrating your LMS with your existing systems helps.

Keep a lookout for APIs that can help in this seamless integration. These APIs can connect with 3rd party tools within minutes.

3. Check for customization

Can you customize your LMS as per the demands of your organization? Or, do you need an external resource to make the necessary configurations? Ideally, your in-house team should be able to make the desired changes as and when required. Find an LMS system that is flexible enough.

4. Is it scalable?

Similarly, you should be able to scale up your learning platform with the passage of time. As you get more and more clients and business partners, you should be able to put additional resources on your LMS platform.

5. Tracking compliance

Does your LMS have a dashboard to track compliance by your managers and the rest of the staff? How do you check whether your staff is following all the key metrics?

Is your dashboard granular enough, i.e. does it help you dive into your data? Can you, as a CEO, check your organization’s progress across states, regions, departments or even units?

6. Is your Learning Management System future-proof?

Check with your vendor whether your platform can evolve with time? Can it keep pace with technological innovations? Is it future-proof?

Can your LMS adapt to the changing needs of your customers?

While it is great to have a customizable LMS, it is even better to have a platform that reflects the outside world. It should be amenable to change and be ready to embrace technological disruption.

7. Gamification tools

Does your LMS inspire and motivate your e-learners? How do you ensure that every morning, your learners eagerly sign in again on your platform?

Gamification tools like badges, contests, player dashboards, etc. motivate your learning partners into continuing this. Gamification also results in increased knowledge retention and online training ROI.

To sum up, a good LMS tool makes your life easier by centralizing data and making it available globally. An effective LMS platform is scalable, can be customized and can track compliance. While shopping for your LMS tool, check whether it is future-proof, has gamification tools and is cloud-based.

Stay in the loop for further updates on this subject.
