If you run a business, then you probably already know that the more engaged employees are with their work, and the more satisfied they are in their workplace, the more successful your company is likely to be. Employee satisfaction is the main thing to focus on first if you want to boost employee engagement since the two go hand-in-hand. Employees who are satisfied at work and actually enjoy going into work each day are more likely to be highly productive, creative, go the extra mile, provide excellent customer service, and recommend you as an employer to others. So, what can you do to boost employee satisfaction and improve employee engagement as a result?

Get Feedback

The first thing to do is get some feedback from your employees themselves since they can tell you better than anybody else what they need to feel more satisfied at their jobs. Everybody is different, so don’t automatically assume that what works well for one company is going to work well for yours. You can speak to your employees directly or consider handing out an anonymous employee survey for them to fill out since they might feel more comfortable with being completely honest if they don’t have to put their names to their comments. Even if you get feedback that you don’t like or didn’t expect, it is all a good starting point for making positive changes in your business to boost employee satisfaction.

Employee Benefits

These days, more and more companies are offering more than just a salary to their employees. Because of this, offering a generous benefits package can make all the difference to how valued and appreciated your employees feel at work, which can have a positive effect on engagement and productivity levels. Check out zestbenefits.com for access to benefits that spill over into employees’ private lives such as generous pension plans or private health insurance. Zest offers access to some of the most desirable benefits for employees to hundreds of UK employers in both the private and public sectors.

Offer Flexibility

After the COVID19 pandemic, the truth is that you are going to be hard-pressed to find somebody very happy to go back to doing a 9-5 office day Monday to Friday and commuting to and from the office. The fact of the matter is that most employees today want more flexibility and the good news is that there is lots of research to back up the suggestion that more flexible working leads to better employee engagement. Wherever possible, offering flexible working hours with more autonomy and giving employees the choice to either work from home or the office on any given day can be a great way to boost satisfaction, engagement, productivity, and employee retention.

Offer Progression and Training

If you want to hire the best talent for your business and have a workforce that is highly engaged and productive, then you’ll need to accept that you are probably going to be hiring ambitious people who want to take their careers further. Doing what you can as an employer to support this and help your employees with their personal career journeys can be a great way to boost satisfaction and engagement in your workplace. This could be in the form of providing on-the-job training courses or providing funding for online degree programs for employees who are interested in working their way up for a promotion.

As an employer, focusing on the satisfaction and happiness of the people that work for you is one of the best ways to naturally increase productivity and engagement levels in the workplace.
